Saba Taj | Durham, NC
Borders/Portals (are so Gay)
Oil paint, acrylic paint, spray paint, glitter and gold leaf
72” x 72” (2020)

This painting suggests that an American Muslim future may be accessed through a path of magic — through relational subjectivity and spirituality, divested from a white colonial ethos of individualism and objectivity. The future will require unity in struggle and conjuring connection and meaning beyond binary thinking.
